Is an ultrasound safe?
Yes. Ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging method that does not use ionising radiation.
From what age do you perform ultrasound?
Examinations are available for adults and children from 11 years of age.
How should I prepare for an abdominal ultrasound?
Fasting is usually recommended, and for some examinations a full bladder. Detailed instructions are provided at registration.
Do I need a referral for an ultrasound?
No — examinations are provided privately, without a referral.
